Week 5

It has been another great week in Room 403!
We have been hard at work on our Biome Projects!  They are looking great-and due this week!!  (Siler HR-Thursday, Sugg HR-Friday). Students have had over 2.5 hours of in class time to complete these, and anything not completed in class must be completed at home.  I can't wait to see the finished products!

In math we finished up practicing multiplying and dividing fractions, ordering rational numbers, and have moved on to decimals.  We have done some fun hands on projects to practice!

Week 3 and 4

We have been working very hard in math with coordinate grids and also this past week we tackled multiplying and dividing fractions (in word problems, too)!
We will go back to that next week as well along with comparing and ordering fractions.

In science we wrapped up the parts of the flower.  We did a science lab where we dissected a flower to see the different parts:

The students had a great time with this!

Week 2

It was another productive week!  We got down to business this week in math (our first unit to tackle is number systems) and science (parts of a flower, photosynthesis and ecosystems).

We worked together in cooperative learning groups this week working on combining positive and negative integers:

In science we started learning about the parts of the flower, and we also had our first trip to the science lab to have orientation.  We also talked a LOT about lab safety and how to handle materials properly.  We even did an introduction lab so students could become familiar with the lab, expectations, and safety.

This week we will continue with the parts of a flower and head to the science lab.

In math, we will work with a four quadrant coordinate grid and practice reflecting points over the x and y axis.
